Visit to NSF and U.S. EPA offices in the U.S.

The gentlemen Kostas and Hercules Athanasiou, distinguished experts in the field of water quality, were honoured to be invited by Professor and expert researcher on water pollutants, Mr. Christian G. Daughton, Ph.D., of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA). Mr. Daughton, who works in the Office of Research and Development, National Exposure Laboratory, Department of Environmental Sciences, Las Vegas, invited the two Greek experts to visit his office for an important briefing and exchange of knowledge.

During their visit to the offices of the U.S. EPA, the Athanasius gentlemen had the opportunity to learn about the latest results of investigations into the poor state of water quality. These investigations have revealed alarming data on contaminants affecting drinking water and their impact on public health and the environment. This information is vital for the formulation of strategies and policies aimed at protecting water quality and public health.

During the visit, an important proposal was made to Mr. Hercules Athanasiou. Professor Daughton suggested that Mr. Hercules Athanasiou be included in the U.S. EPA research, scientific team.. This proposal is in recognition of Mr Athanasiou's expertise and contribution in the field of water quality research. His participation in such an important research group is expected to enhance efforts to understand and address water quality issues globally.

In addition, Mr. Kostas and Mr. Hercules Athanasiou visited the offices of the National Science Foundation (N.S.F.), where they received an extensive briefing on the major problems facing water worldwide. The briefing included the latest developments and research on the challenges facing the management of water resources, as well as technological innovations and proposals to address them.

The contacts and discussions that took place during their visit to the US provided Mr Athanasiou with valuable knowledge and experience, which will contribute significantly to the continuation of their research and the implementation of innovative solutions to improve water quality. Cooperation with international research institutions and the exchange of know-how is a cornerstone for the promotion of scientific knowledge and the effective management of environmental problems.

In summary, the visit of Mr. Kostas and Mr. Hercules Athanasiou to the offices of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) and the National Science Foundation (N.S.F..) in Las Vegas was a major event in their career.
